| Goldblatt Piano Service 598 Kent Hill Rd, Woodhull, NY 14898 607-458-5785 "My name is Don Goldblatt. My wife and I moved to Woodhull, New York in the fall of 2005. I have been a piano technician since 1995. My education has been quite broad and varied. I began my piano technology studies with a summer course at the North Bennet St. School in Boston. I continued with a correspondence course offered by The Randy Potter School of Piano Technology of Bend, Oregon. I spent two years working for David Estey Piano Service, a piano rebuilding shop in Passaic, New Jersey. My primary work there was rebuilding and regulating grand and upright piano actions, as well as tuning. I belong to a group called the Piano Technicians Guild. The PTG offers monthly meetings featuring a speaker or demonstration of some facet of piano work. They also offer National and regional institutes (three or four days of intensive classes in all facets of piano work). I have attended four national institutes and five or six regional institutes. Throughout this time, I was also building my own piano tuning and repair business. In 1998 I opened my own store front piano shop in Boonton, New Jersey, where I sold rebuilt and reconditioned pianos and piano accessories. The store also housed my shop where I did the repair and regulating work that couldn't be done at my customer's homes. Both of my parents were accomplished musicians, teaching and performing professionally throughout their lives. From them, I inherited a very good musical ear. I also have a strong mechanical aptitude, which is another prerequisite to being a successful piano technician. In addition to my piano work, I am also assisting my wife, Lynn, in the operation of Paradise Garden Animal Haven in our town of Woodhull. We presently take care of more than eighty cats and kittens, and we hope to build a facility to house dogs in the near future. Please call me if you would like any further information. Thank you for your consideration." |
